BDMI distributes a proprietary software package used in the diagnosis of osteoporosis using lumbar spine images from a CT scan. This patented technique is unique in not requiring an external calibration phantom as do other CT devices. Our phantom-less method eliminates the need for a standalone measurement system as is the case for DEXA imaging. Additionally, this method can provide retrospective analysis to CT data from other lumbar spine procedures. We are working to expand our application of the software using virtual colonoscopy data to simultaneously screen patients for osteoporosis.
